Week ending 21st March 2010

It has been a difficult week with the snow melting and making the river very high and almost unfishable. Monday saw the river at over five feet and Tuesday was not much better, but by Wednesday conditions had improved enough for people to fish sensibly. Alec Robertson had a nice fish from Junction at Rothes.

Jack Fryer and Dr Mellor had one a piece from the Boat Pool at Wester Elchies. I understand the Aberlour Angling Club had two this week from their water. Upstream Laggan had their first fish last week and I hear that Phones had a fish this week. I thought this was the highest fish so far but I have learnt that Ballindalloch safely returned their first fish this week.  Details are still very sketchy and I would be grateful if estates and angling c

lubs would update me at malcolm@speygillie.co.uk or by text on 07967970704.

Hopefully the coming week will be better, most of the low lying snow has already melted although there is still plenty lying on Ben Rhinnes.
