Week Commencing 25th March

It has been another cold dry week on Speyside; the river is at or just below summer levels and is still on the cold side. I just hope that we soon get a change in the weather pattern it would be nice to get a westerly or southerly wind for a day or two. The forecast for the coming week is for sunshine on Monday and Tuesday with a little rain mid week and more sunshine to end the week. The tides have peaked and there will be no new water till the weekend.
Catches; with the weather for the last few weeks it is not too surprising to see the Gordon Castle Beats and Orton fishing the best. The Brae beats almost managed double figures, including this one caught by Tom Brown fishing with Ian Gordon.

Orton had at least three this week including one caught on Saturday by Bruce Cameron, last year’s Spey Quaich winner. Delfur started the week with a flurry of activity on Tuesday; Nigel Cutmore had this one from Broom.

The beat above Rothes also started the week well with two on Monday morning. Carron had their first fish of their season with their first let, Tom Fulcher had his first ever fish from the Bothy estimated at 7 lbs. Further upstream I am pleased to see Grantown also had their first of the season from John Davis landed and released a 13lb fish on the fly from Tarric Mor.
