Week Commencing 24th July 2017
Another changeable week in store, there will be rain on Tuesday and perhaps heavier rain on Thursday. Temperatures will struggle to get above the mid teens. The tides have peaked and there will be no new water till next week. I’m not sure whether today’s rain will make a difference to the river height, but the showers have been fairly heavy.
Catches, have been a little disappointing but with the grilse runs in abeyance big numbers were never going to happen this season.
I was pleased to hear from the Associations at the bottom of the river. Willie Mair kindly sent me these photos from Fochabers. Regular Tony Smith sent me another picture this week.
Ian Tennant tells me they were just short of thirty mostly grilse. Unfortunately no pictures this week.
Orton almost made double figures.
Delfur finished in the mid teens. Dr Hermann Diehl fished his 50th year at Delfur.
When I asked Mark whether he thought I would reach that milestone he said “no chance” no ifs or buts, brutally honest!
The rest of the river has been pretty quiet, most beats picking up a couple of fish here or there.
Hopefully the lift in the river levels will stir things up again.
Kinchurdy continue their excellent sea trout season.
