Week Commencing 18th March 2013

It has been another cold week on Speyside, on Saturday the rod rings were freezing up all day which somewhat takes the pleasure out of being on the river. The wind has been in the East for most of the week and is forecast to continue from much the same direction for all of next week. There is some snow forecast for Monday but the middle of the week might be a little warmer with some sunshine. The tides are building all week.

Catches, as to be expected with low cold water, the fish are not rushing up the river and the bottom beats appear to be fishing the best. The Gordon Castle beats finished with fourteen for the week. Orton I hear had six for the week including this one that Ross Wood landed on Tuesday evening.

Delfur managed one on Thursday Paul Davidson pictured here bringing it to the net and Grant carefully unhooking the fish in the water.

The beat above Rothes also managed one from the Sou on Thursday Paul Hainey pictured here was the lucky (skilful) angler.

I heard on the grapevine that Castle Grant had a fish this week but have no confirmation. I would think as soon as the water rises Grantown will soon have their first of the season.
