Again another wet week on Speyside Wednesday was particularly wet and the river rose accordingly on Thursday. Next week is more of the same, wet on Monday and Tuesday, drier in the middle of the week and more rain at the end of the week. Temperatures remain around the mid teens, ideal fishing conditions. The tides have peaked today so there will be no new water for the rest of the week. Hopefully the runs of fish will continue to build.
Catches, The Gordon Castle Beats continue to fish well, with over seventy fish again this week. Delfur were not far behind with over sixty landed. Mark was kind enough to send me some pictures.
Rothes again had a good week with over thirty landed; Mike tells me the majority were salmon around the 8-10lb mark and sealiced. As usual things were quieter above Craigellachie Bridge but Craigellachie were in double figures. Macallan over the water had their best week of the season with Peter Kyte’s part landing ten, with almost as many lost. Top rod was Robin Taylor with five, Robin pictured with a ten pounder.
Wester Elchies also had their best week of the season with sixteen landed, including a twenty pounder for Michael Cary on his first visit to the beat. Carron following the trend also had their best week with fifteen landed. Unfortunately I have no more details till Grantown who had eleven including a twenty pounder from Pol Na Gower.
