Well the river cleared and settled and there were a few fish caught but not in the numbers I was hoping for, but there is always next week! The forecast is for a mixed week, with a possibility of rain tonight but Monday being bright and sunny with temperatures reaching 20c. There is rain forecast for Wednesday and Saturday but let us wait and see. The tides have peaked and there will be no new water till the weekend. The fish still seem to be running hard, I was lucky enough to catch this one at Phones, Knockando and it was covered in long tailed sea lice, it had not been holding back.
We saw plenty of smolts at Phones but trying to photograph them is about as difficult as catching their uncles and aunts, hopefully you can see some wee fellows here.
Catches: Gordon Castle beats were around the double figure mark. Delfur only managed a handful but almost as many lost or just pulled. Johnny Gray was kind enough to send me this photo from last week and Mark sent me the next of John Dawson in Beaufort.
Rothes had seven; Mike tells me conditions were close to perfect. Nick Smyth sent me this photograph from Gene Tree.
I hear the beat above had over ten but as usual have few details. For a change Wester Elchies had a good week with over ten landed (11). Ian Muir sent me these photographs from the Boat Pool and Delene.
Carron had a couple as did Laggan. Knockando finished with four I think, Phones two and Lower Pitcroy four.
Again people and not fishing at Grantown so the numbers are poor, just two for the week and a handful of seatrout.
