Week Commencing 12th March 2018
The cold snap of the weekend will hopefully disappear as we start the week, temperatures will be around 4c on Monday and Tuesday rising to double that by Thursday. There might be some rain mid week and again next Saturday. Hopefully the rise in temperatures will bring a rise in catches.
The tides peak on Monday evening and there will be no new water for the rest of the week.
Catches. The highest beat to report a fresh fish is slowly creeping up the river, with both Carron and Laggan getting their first of the season late in the week. I am confident that Grantown will have their first of the season before Easter if not before the clocks change.
Orton got their season underway when Mrs. Dani Morey landed a fresh fish on Monday.
Monday also saw Delfur land a fish from Hollenbush, James Chalmers’ favourite pool.
Surprisingly it was not till later in the week that Alex Falconer had this fish from Bluestone at Rothes.
Arndilly continued to catch fish; this week Graeme Alexander had a couple.
Macallan got their season underway when Jamie Ritchie had a fresh fish from the Tunnel.
Aberlour Angling Association had their first fish from Sandy Hole, a 7lb fish for James Christie.
Davey Brand had this small fish from the Boat Pool on Saturday.
I hear rumours that Delagyle had a fish as well but have no details.
I had a fish from Dalmunach on Friday.
On Saturday Jamie Di Sotto had a much bigger fish from the same pool for Laggan.
