Week Commencing 10th September

Well it is mid September already, just a couple more weeks to go and this season will be over, and writing reports when the river is not at its best is hard work! Again there is rain forecast at some stage for everyday next week, probably not enough to affect the height of the river but just enough to keep it topped up. Temperatures remain in the low teens and winds should be light all week, nothing wrong with the weather then. The tides peak mid week so if there are any fish to come in everything is in their favour. On Wednesday morning I saw skeins of geese flying south and as this was some ten days before the equinox I wonder if it is a harbinger of a cold winter, only time will tell.

Catches. There have been some. Gordon Castle still managed to get into the mid thirties; Stuart Ball who was fishing there last week sent me this picture of Steve Dewhurst with Blair Banks on Beat five.

Delfur also were into the mid thirties, as usual the Delfur gillies are generous with their photographs so I will let a few pictures tell a thousand words.
