Week Commencing 10th August.

I’ve been away to a sunny spot, no not Spain or France so I don’t have to isolate, but to fish a Highland spate river, not surprisingly rather unsuccessfully. Anyway, the forecast for the next week is for rain for the first four days here on Speyside, Tuesday being the heaviest. The tides are building till the weekend.

Catches. I am not an investigative reporter and can only report from the beats that contact me. I am not really surprised gillies don’t want to send pictures with the constant sniping from the fish handling mafia!

Gordon Castle. David Buley tells me “Much slower week with only thirty-three fish caught. Even with the lift in water midweek the fish didn’t come on the take”

Do not confuse me with Mr Leach. I love to hear about the blue tits and of course the sand martins(!), but I love to see lots of fishy picks also despite the anal attitude of the fish handling mafia.

Please forgive my bad English and my ignorance.
What do you mean by “despite the ANAL attitude of the fish handling mafia”
This sounds rather rude to me (though I read Freud)

I liked the old style reports. We really don’t need to see endless photos of folk with fish. Much more interesting to read about conditions, river heights, evidence of lice and other possible problems, and even Mr Newbould’s blue tits and their progress.
