Spey Electrofishing report 2013

The Spey Electrofishing Report 2013 was approved for publication by the Spey Foundation Committee at its quarterly meeting yesterday.

The report which can be downloaded here is a lengthy document but it reports on all the electrofishing carried out over the course of this summer. The mainstem salmon fry index surveys on the Spey and Avon are reported plus the density sites which are generally completed in the tributaries. Reference to historical results from many sites are included so that current fish densities can be compared with results from our extensive database.

The electrofishing surveys were carried out by the Spey Foundation staff; namely Steve Burns, Polly Burns, Jim Reid, Michael Hill and myself with assistance from Donald Morrison whilst on placement from the UHI. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the many estates where access was granted, often during the height of the sporting season.

If anyone has any questions arising from the report please don’t hesitate to ask.
