Spey Catchment Initiative Update

The Spey Catchment Initiative is a multi-facetted water based environmental enhancement initiative led by a Steering Group of representatives from partner organisations; Cairngorms National Park Authority, Diageo, Forestry Commission Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Moray Council, Highland Council and the Spey Fishery Board.  The Spey Catchment Initiative (SCI) employs a Project Officer, Liz Henderson, who works closely with the Spey Fishery Board’s Operations Manager, Duncan Ferguson, to deliver enhancement and improvement projects throughout the catchment.

Since its inception in 2010, SCI has enjoyed considerable success delivering a range of multiple-benefit projects. These have included river restoration & bankside improvements works, in-river habitat enhancements and riverside amenity works to improve access and enjoyment of the River Spey for local communities….
