Smolt trap update

Quick update. The avon was up about an inch last night but the temperature dropped by almost 3oC from yesterday (snow on even the local hill tops this morning). This mornings catch was down a lot compared to earlier in the week, probably because of the drop on temperature or are we seeing the run coming to an end – I don’t think so but time will tell.

The total catch to date for salmon is 7564. Recent mark and recapture trials have been consistent at around 16% trap efficiency for salmon, although the results from the earlier trails showed much lower recapture rates.

Daily salmon catch (including parr but they are only a small percentage)
