Opening Week 2018

It has been a cold start to the season, the river has remained low. Next week temperatures are expected to rise and there will also be some rain at the start of the week. Hopefully the river will rise; I do not like it low and clear at this time of the season. The tides peak on Tuesday.

The Opening of the Spey took place at the Victoria Bridge Aberlour. Lord Lieutenant of Moray, Lt.- Col. Grenville Johnston OBE OStJ TD was the guest of honour. Evelyn Glass, last years winner poured a bottle of Aberlour 16 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky into the River Spey. Local Minister Bob Anderson blessed the river.

Malcom, thanks for your report but you don’t make mention of opening week catches whilst there are several pictures of fish caught. Has the Spey Politik struck even deeper?

Kevin James is a very fine angler–and a damned handsome man to boot!
