Only a week to go!

Not long till go now, the season opens a week tomorrow. I look forward to meeting everyone at the Victoria Bridge, Alice Littler Park at 9.00 Monday the 12th.

There will be the usual Competition for the first fish and the largest fish.

The event is sponsored b Aberlour Distillery, Walkers Shortbread, and Aberlour Bespoke Catering.

Hopefully the river will be running at a fine height.

I have just realised that I have been so busy enjoying the off-season I never got round to giving out last years catches.
Spey’s 2017 catch was 5292 with a catch & release rate of 96%. This C&R rate is up by 2% from last year, which is really good for a mainly voluntary scheme. The seatrout figures make better reading with 2293 reported, which is up by nearly a thousand from last year. The catch and release rate for them is also up, from 77% to 82%.
