The annual broodstock catch-up and hen stripping took place under the guidance of Spey Hatchery Manager, Jimmy Woods assisted by Head Bailiff, Richard Whyte, bailiffs Ali Grant and Jason Hysert and a keen team of volunteers including former Delagyle Ghillie, Willie Mearns and Buckie fishermen, Bob Patience, and Ian Robertson, to whom we send our sincere thanks and appreciation for their hard work. Also special thanks to Frank Slater, who helped with the broodstock catch-up but was unfortunately too ill to make the BBQ.
This year the hatchery was stocked with a total of 515,000 eggs which were stripped from 91 hens. The eggs were good quality and there were more eggs per fish. The process was finished earlier than usual, with all the eggs carefully stored by the 28th November, as the task usually lasts well into December to complete.
A BBQ was held at the hatchery to thank everyone for their hard work, which was enjoyed by all.
