Allt Lorgy restoration project

The Spey Catchment Initiative recently completed the initial restoration works on a project to restore natural river functions on the Allt Lorgy, a Dulnain tributary. The Lorgy in its lower reaches had previously been straightened and consequently required constant remedial works to manage gravel movements and deposits.  The thrust of the project involved removing embankments and hard engineering (big boulders) to allow the river to find its own course. A summary of the project can be seen here .
