It has still been fairly quiet on Speyside, somewhat disappointingly so. I would have expected the rise in water temperatures to bring in some more fresh fish. On a positive note Wester Elchies got off the mark for 2010 with Norman Morrice from Torphins, landing a nice fish from the Boat Pool on Tuesday.
Dr Rob Masson caught the second from Delene on Wednesday. Willie Mair from Portsoy returned from off shore and was rewarded with a fresh fish from Delfur. Graham Ritchie from Fraserburgh landed a fish from Bluestone Rothes on Saturday despite the river starting to rise and discolour.
It has rained almost non stop today and conditions for the start of the week do not look good below Rothes. Although high above Aberlour the water is fairly clear but the turbidity below Rothes is much worse, I am not sure whether this is coming from the Rothes flood defences or the bank above Bluestone.
